We invite applications for a full-time opportunity at St. Andrew’s College in the role of JUNIOR
COOK. Cole Dining Hall has seating for up to 320 people and hosts day and boarding students
and staff for three meals per day, in addition to special events and receptions.
The primary responsibilities of the Junior Cook include:
• Assist First Cook with meal preparation
• Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat,
prepping salads, vegetarian meals, and other related duties
• Measure ingredients and seasonings
• Prepare meals according to the menu, ensuring quality and quantity standards are met
• Perform routine kitchen tasks, including assisting with serving food and clean-up among
other duties
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves in an organized and accessible fashion
• Ensure that all food and supplies are stored and sanitized properly
• Comply with Health and Safety under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Comply with safe food handling and safe handling of cleaning chemicals (W.H.M.I.S)
We seek candidates with the following credentials:
• Previous experience working in a kitchen environment
• A minimum of 2 years of cooking experience is required
• Reliability and flexibility
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Position requires considerable walking and standing for long periods
• A current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
Scheduled shifts will include evenings and weekends.
