Entrepreneurial skills showcased at Grade 12 McEwen Fair

On Monday, Jan. 12, Grade 12 students in the McEwen Leadership program hosted the annual Entrepreneurship Fair in Staunton Gallery, presenting their original venture plans to staff, students, and a panel of guest judges. The event highlighted students’ creativity, strategic thinking, and confidence as they delivered polished business pitches and showcased interactive display booths.

A key component of the McEwen Leadership program, the Entrepreneurship Fair serves as the culminating task for an extensive project-based learning initiative. Students explore the driving question: What goods or services should be introduced to the marketplace to fill a gap and create consumer demand? Their business plans include comprehensive marketing strategies, financial projections, operating plans, and resource management considerations.

The fair is a long-standing highlight of the McEwen Leadership program, a specialized initiative at St. Andrew’s that has been shaping future leaders since 2007. Open to Grades 11 and 12 students through a competitive application process, the program emphasizes experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. Students apply business theory to real-world case studies and take on meaningful leadership roles across the school.

This year’s fair drew enthusiastic engagement from students and staff, who gathered to hear a wide range of unique and feasible venture ideas. In addition to the People’s Choice Award, voted on by students, two rounds of Judges’ Choice awards were presented based on pitch quality, innovation, and overall venture viability.

The event was a resounding success, celebrating both the entrepreneurial spirit and the leadership growth of the McEwen students. Here are the award winners:
