SAC Roboticists compete at VEX World Championships
With 9,000 roboticists cheering in Dallas, Texas, the opening ceremonies of the VEX World Championships kicked off in thrilling fashion. Team 97779X, consisting of Eric C., Charles W., Eason Z., and Chen Yu Z, earned the rare honour of representing Ontario at this prestigious event.
The three-day competition taxed the competitor's problem-solving ability and mental endurance. After the second day of competition, we visited the home stadium of the Dallas Mavericks and witnessed an NBA playoff game. The game featured six potential Hall-of-Famers, and that made me reflect on the talent of our young team, made up of two Grade 9 and two Grade 10 students.
The team experienced several setbacks early in the competition but went undefeated on the last day. Team 97779X’s tenacity was always evident, and their final record was a respectable five wins and five losses. Their future looks very bright in the STEM field, and the grit they have all but ensures their future success. Congratulations again to team 97779X!
