The D. Bruce Macdonald Scholarship

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE D. BRUCE MACDONALD SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2023 HAVE ALL BEEN AWARDED.

The D. Bruce Macdonald Scholarship is open to day student applicants in York Region in grades 5,6,7, and 9 with one merit-based scholarship available per grade. Awards are set at  $25,000 and are renewable through graduation provided the student excels in all facets of the School’s mission.

D. Bruce Macdonald is St. Andrew’s College’s longest-serving Headmaster (1900-1935) and the visionary who led the school to the Town of Aurora in 1926. When the College celebrated its 90th year in Aurora, this award was created to give back to the community by investing in the education of local students.

It was Headmaster Macdonald’s vision to develop men of strong and well-rounded character and to this day the College continues to follow his mission.

This scholarship will be awarded to boys demonstrating excellence in academics, co-curriculars (athletics and/or arts), character, leadership, and community service. Interested students must submit a written essay by January 16th each year. Please click D. Bruce Macdonald Essay Form 

Completed applications must be submitted online with a school application and award recipients will be notified by January 30th each year. Unsuccessful applicants, who the Admission Department deems mission appropriate, will be eligible to apply for the College’s $3.1 million Financial Aid program if need be.
