Since 1899, athletics has been an important part of St. Andrew’s College, and today that rich tradition lives on in our Middle School. The main philosophy behind our Athletic program is that we expect all our students to be fully involved in an athletic endeavour all year long. Besides the obvious benefits to health and fitness, the Athletic program develops other areas of a boy’s character such as empathy, humility, sportsmanship, leadership, cooperation, discipline, commitment, time-management, integrity, respect, pride, and tolerance.
The Athletic program allows for boys of many different levels of skill and experience to participate and develop the skills listed above. The College offers both competitive and multi-sport programs to our students. Our competitive teams are challenged by other independent schools in the Greater Toronto Area. We are proud of our affiliation with the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA). Our multi-sport program allows students to experience a healthy variety of activities and games that help to develop fitness and a love of sport.
Our school year is divided into three athletic seasons with unique athletic offerings in each. During the fall season, our students may be involved in competitive cross-country running, soccer, volleyball, or a multi-sport program. The winter season sees our students in competitive alpine skiing, basketball, hockey, squash, swimming, or our winter multi-sport program. The final season, spring, allows our students to be involved in competitive badminton, field lacrosse, rugby, softball, tennis, track & field, or our spring multi-sport program. For over 120 years, there has been tremendous pride exhibited by generations of Andreans in the SAC Athletic program. We are convinced that our newest Andreans will continue to add to this rich history and experience great physical and personal development when they come to SAC.
