Full immunization against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Meningitis (ACYW), Measles, Mumps and Rubella is a requirement of all students in the Province of Ontario. Failure to provide proof of immunization will result in suspension from school. The Health Centre will update immunization, if necessary.
The Province of Ontario Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Program and the Grade 7 Hepatitis B Vaccination Program are administered by the school nurses and are provided free of charge.
- Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination: All students are required to be vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis type A,C,Y,W-135. This potentially fatal disease comes on very quickly and students can substantially reduce their risk by getting vaccinated. This is a safe and effective vaccine and will be administered by the Health Centre nurses with parental permission.
- Grade 7 Hepatitis B and HPV Vaccination: The Hepatitis B and HPV vaccinations program consists of two injections each (a total of four) – one in the Fall and the second in the Spring.
Flu shots are offered free of charge each fall and are highly recommended, especially for boarding students and those from outside of Canada.
